Description

The project of the main attraction of Belarus was approved in 1989, the author of which was the architects Viktor Kramarenko and Mikhail Vinogradov. The construction started only in 2002. Building was started with great enthusiasm and more than seriously, because the National Library was to become the visiting card of the country. Construction went on around the clock, and the number of builders reached 3000.

The grand opening of the library building was held on June 16, 2006. The National Library not only surprises with its unusual and futuristic style, but also with a huge repository of a universal fund of recorded knowledge in various fields. The Belarusian Diamond is also a research, information and socio-cultural center.

The main library of Belarus is the national repository of the country’s intellectual, historical and cultural heritage.

Building has become not only a symbol of the country and a cultural center, but also a popular tourist attraction. The observation deck offers a beautiful view of the city from a bird’s eye view. The museum museum presents the rarest exhibits of ancient books and manuscripts. The most valuable items are stored in special conditions.

The largest project of the republic has the ability to serve up to 3000 readers during the day. The library fund consists of 8 million copies. A library card of the National Library has 100,000 users. 1,500 computers provide staff work and access to digitized information.
